Cookies:
Cookies are a websites way of storing data on your computer. When you log in, a cookie is set to save your name
and password to save you having to keep typing it. Cookies used to be a risk. Back in the netscape and IE version 3
days, letting a site set a cookie had ways to let that site read data off your hard drive, plus other sites were
able to read your cookies. Those risks have long been fixed. When a site sets a cookie now, all it can do is read
back it's own cookie next time you go to it. People used to be afraid of cookies and had a reason to, but there is
no harm to them now.
If you are on a public computer, you won't want to save data on it, so you would want to set the cookie for just this
session. When you close the browser after you are done, the cookie is gone.
